Erika Kulnys released her 4th album in 2014, Angel on the Road, December 12th at the Music Room in Halifax. Angel on the Road is a CD of introspective songs about the big topics: love, death, god, war and peace. Featuring Erika’s powerful vocals juxtaposed with dynamic piano and guitar, this CD offers something for everyone. Recorded at Signature Sounds in Connecticut, Angel on the Road is a solo CD, with minimal overdubs-Erika’s own harmonies and guitar and piano support. The songs were written over the summer and fall of 2014 and reflect Erika’s journey-both literal and metaphorical as she traveled several times from Nova Scotia to Nashville, finding her voice through the journey. From heart-opening songs like Angel on the Road, to tongue in cheek explorations like Surgeon, Erika pushes the boundaries of folk music. Her covers of Leonard Cohen tunes One of Us Cannot Be Wrong, Take This Waltz and Anthem offer a passionate fresh perspective.
